Once...the Musical

Hi everyone :)

A few weeks ago, hubby and I were lucky enough to have a night out (without the kids - woohoo!)
We made the most of it and went out to dinner in the city, many a yummy Chinese dumplings were devoured, and then we headed over to the Princess Theatre to see Once...The Musical*

Now, I hadn't read anything about what the musical was about, which was either really smart or really dumb, but when I was seated, there were lots of people on stage playing instruments and making lovely music.  Once they had finished playing, they sat down in various positions around the sage, and the story started.

I was drawn in to the story line, buy the lovely music from the very talented musicians and good comedic acting of "Girl".  All the musicians were actors and vice versa, I was amazed that they even could dance with their instruments - and was especially impressed by the dancing cellest, with his heavy cello, it looked hard :D

So I didn't know anything about once, but incase you want too...here is a bit about the storyline:
From the very first note, Once draws you in and never let’s go. This emotionally  captivating musical is the only show to have music that won the Academy Award®,  Grammy Award®, Olivier Award and Tony Award®.

Set in modern day Dublin, Once is the story of a Guy who gave up on his music and his love and the Girl who inspired him to dream again. This exhilarating ‘Guy meets Girl’ musical is performed by an extraordinary cast of actor-musicians who sing, dance and play their hearts out on stage. Bringing magic to the roles of Guy and Girl, and performing the Oscar award-winning song ‘Falling Slowly’ are Tom Parsons and Madeleine Jones.

This achingly beautiful, joyously uplifting show strikes an unforgettable chord in audiences and speaks to the power of music to connect us all. A show like that only comes around Once.

The smash-hit, multi-award winning musical Once premieres in Melbourne this September at the Princess Theatre.

I really enjoyed Once...the musical and would recommend it to you if you have been thinking about going to see it.  The storyline was great, the acting was great, the music was great, and even the dancing and the jokes were great - can you tell I had a wonderful time :P

I was a fantastic night out for me and hubby - and not just because we were kid free ;) I'm looking forward to the next show we go see, I don't think we had been to see one in about 5 years!
