Hi everyone,
Some of you may have been following along to see what items I worked on for selfish sewing week, last week:
2. A necessary clutch wallet and
3. A fold over clutch*
(*this pattern is a Michelle Patterns/Keyka Lou design, it is no longer available to purchase as it has been retired)
And if you follow me on Instagram you would know that I finished my first item early in the week. It was a ruffled apron...you can read more about it here.
The second item I worked on was a necessary clutch wallet, and this is the only item I haven't finished as I am waiting on a few parts to arrive so I can complete it...(they arrived today, so hopefully I will have some time in the next few weeks to finish up that item - I'll keep you posted!)
The third item I worked on was a fold over clutch...and here it is :D
Unfortunately this pattern has been "retired" and is no longer available, which is a shame as it is quite an easy pattern to follow and the finished product is lovely.
It took me 3 hours from from start to finish, and only used just over a fat 1/4 of fabric.
I raided my stash of absolute favourite fabrics for this bag, and I think I'm going to love it forever - and going to want to be invited to lots of parties so I have an excuse to use it :P
The fabric I've used is "Punchy Pique" by Robert Kaufman for the exterior and a remnant I bought from spotlight for the lining. The lining fabric has a white design on a white background and so it doesn't show up in any of the photos - which is a shame as it is really pretty and matched in well with some of the paisley(ish) print on the exterior fabric.
I made the largest version of the pattern, and I'm glad I did as I can fit soooo much in there and I wont have to decide on what to leave behind.
The only thing I would change next time I make this bag (and I will make it again!), is to move the inside pocket to the back pannel - as I think it is slightly weird having it on the front pannel, but maybe that is just personal taste?
Even though the bag is for me, I decided to add in one of my labels - why not hey?! I made it :P
Now...who wants to invite me to a party so I can use my new bag?
Emma
